Maintenance Personnel

Job Purpose and Function

The position of Maintenance Man responsible for the General running of all things Tortuga in our Stores, Warehouses, bakery and Main office area, all operations for Tortuga Rum Company.

Key Role and Responsibilities

The postholders duties include Inventory Management, Replenishment, Reconciliation, Trouble Shooting, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance of patty warmers, painting, pumping the pond. The Maintenance man must be self-motivated and work with little to no supervision. The postholder must be able to maintain positive relationship with Operations manager through regular visits and contact with our store. 

Key Duties and Additional Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Preventative Maintenance of the fountain on the compound, Patty machines, bathroom plumbing and other assigned equipment eg. Light bulbs changing.
  • Troubleshoot and Repair bathroom equipment.
  • Opening of Gates and shutters
  • Check grounds & Gazebo for daily repairs
  • Maintain all garbage areas with the garden team
  • Able to complete comprehensive inventory counts
  • Communicate shortages, maintain maintenance area
  • Participate in process improvement
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule - weekend coverage and rotational schedules when required.
  • Works productively with little supervision
  • Able to lift 50- 60lbs or more on a repetitive basis.
  • Participate in requisite training and development initiatives
  • Provide monthly reports on services.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Knowledge of Electrical, plumbing or similar background.
  • Minimum of two years’ proven experience in a similar role.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Carpenter skills.
  • Ability to use basic tools.
  • High level of accuracy with attention to details.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to address supervisor needs, queries or concerns.
  • Proven work experience in a similar field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills are essential to this role.
  • Willing to learn and increase knowledge and qualifications.

  • Training and Qualification for general maintenance.
  • The ability to build valuable business relationships.
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work on own initiative and with little supervision
  • Must be prompt and efficient

All applicants must possess proficiency in the English language, both oral and written and must have a clean Police Record (no prior convictions or pending judgments), a clean Medical Record (no mental health, alcohol or substance abuse issues), a clean and valid Driver’s License and be able to provide at least three suitable references, with two of those being from previous employers.
