Sales Representative (Retail)
We’re looking for passionate Sales Representatives at our flagship Tortuga retail locations. Eligible candidates will have experience in retail, customer service, have a passion for sales and delivering a smile to every customer that walks through our doors.
Job Purpose and Function
The sales representative is primarily responsible for processing customer purchases at the cash register. The sales representative also works with other sales associates to close a sale and recommend other items for purchase.
Key Duties and Additional Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Greets and assists customers when they arrive in store.
- Uses POS /cash register to ring up all customer purchases.
- Processes payments by cash, checks and credit cards.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the register area and general store.
- Counts out drawer regularly.
- Answers customer inquiries and calls for assistance from other associates as necessary.
- Answers store phones and transfers calls to the appropriate department.
- Recommends products and promotional items.
- Ensures that all customers have found what they are looking for.
- Helps customers locate items in store.
- Calls other company stores to find products if they are out of stock at that particular location.
- Retrieves items from the stockroom.
- Addresses and resolves customer complaints or issues.
- Refers customers to management as necessary.
- Assists sales associates in closing a sale.
- Cleans retail floor after store closing.
- Assists in shelving and restocking items.
- Takes store inventory.
- Any other relevant duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills
- Proven work experience as a sales representative/ cashier.
- The ability to build productive business relationships
- Highly motivated and target driven in sales
- Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
All applicants must possess proficiency in the English language, both oral and written and must have a clean Police Record (no prior convictions or pending judgments), a Medical Record (no issues which will impact employee safety or impact the employees ability to perform their duties) and be able to provide at least three suitable references, with two of those being from previous employers.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- At least 2-3 years’ experience as a Sales Representative
- Highly motivated and able to work on own initiative and target driven in sales
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of inventory management
- Knowledge and experience using Counterpoint would be an asset
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work on weekends and public holidays
